Card 9 of 82

The Book

A man breaks into a woman's house and murders her. When he sees the book she was reading, he regrets having killed her. Why?

Solution: The man is a hitman who has killed several times for money. This time he killed the woman because she had been present at one of his murders and could identify him. The book she was reading was in Braille: she was blind and could never have recognized him, so he regrets killing her.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
