Card 52 of 82

The Coffee Drinker

A man in a bar complained to the bartender because his coffee had a fly in it. The bartender took the cup away, promising to bring a new one, and came back a few moments later. The man tasted the coffee and protested that it was the original cup with the fly simply removed. He was right, but how did he know?

Solution: He had sweetened the original cup with sugar. When he tasted the new coffee, he noticed at once that it was already sweet, so it was the same cup.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
