A Death in a Museum

A man wearing a balaclava runs out of a museum carrying a painting under his arm. A police officer sees him, shoots him dead and soon afterwards kills himself. A couple of days later, the man with the painting is buried and named favorite son of the city.

Solution: During a cold spell, a fire broke out in a museum and its director ran out with the most valuable painting in the collection to save it. A police officer who hadn't noticed the fire thought the man was a thief. He ordered him to freeze, but the director was deaf and didn't hear him, so the officer shot him dead. When the officer realized what he had done, he took his own life.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
