Card 29 of 82

The Blackout

A woman at work is going downstairs when suddenly there is a blackout. At that very moment she realizes her husband is about to die.

Solution: The woman worked as an electrician at a hospital and she knew that the emergency generators were broken. Her husband had been in a car crash and was in that hospital, connected to a machine that kept him alive. When the blackout happened she knew he could not breathe on his own and was dying.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
