Card 21 of 82

The Murdered Mayor

A priest is giving his farewell speech. Near the end, the mayor appears to say a few words of thanks, but is shot dead before he finishes speaking.

Solution: In his speech, the priest recalled a peculiar murder that happened on his first day in the parish, and said that the first confession he heard that day was the murderer's. The mayor had missed the start of the speech, and said that he had been the first to confess to the new priest. He had given himself away, and a relative of the murdered victim shot him.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
