Twisted Tales

Card 19 of 82

Restless Sleep

Paul comes home tired. He goes to his room and turns off the light to sleep. After a while, feeling uneasy, he turns the light on and looks around. He turns it off again and tries to sleep. After repeating this several times, he looks under his bed and finds a dead body.

Solution: A thief was robbing Paul's home. When Paul arrived, the thief hid under the bed. The tension became too much for him and he suffered a sudden heart attack and died. Paul couldn't sleep because of the ticking of the dead thief's wristwatch.
How to play

Twisted Tales is a game of lateral thinking. Each card is a strange, usually macabre situation, and your group has to work out what really happened.

  1. Pick one player as the Game Master (the Narrator). Only the Game Master looks at the screen.
  2. The Game Master reads the prompt on the card out loud, then privately reads the solution using "Show solution".
  3. Everyone else asks questions to piece together the story.
  4. The Game Master may only answer "Yes", "No" or "Irrelevant" (when the question is a dead end).
  5. Keep asking and discussing theories until someone reconstructs the key events. Then the Game Master reads the full solution aloud.
  6. Use "Next" and "Back" to move between cards. You always start from the prompt.
